Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

Al Sharpton is younger than John McCain.
Sure, he grandstands – and takes liberties with the truth – but I tend to agree with him that the fact that he attracts so much criticism is a sign of his effectiveness as an activist. To put it bluntly, if he didn’t make white people uncomfortable, he probably wouldn’t be doing his job.
Rev. Al really took a lot of heat back in the late 80′s during the whole Tawana Brawley thing. For those who don’t know the story, Ms. Brawley was a teenager who accused six white men (including a few police officers of rape). These accusations were inflamed by Al (et al) and were later found to be untrue… a grand jury concluded that Brawley had not been the victim of anassault and that she herself may have created the appearance of an attack.
In related news, John Moody, executive vice president at Fox News, commented on his blog today that “if the (Ashley Todd) incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.”
Well, guess what?
According to this article in Wired (by way of the journal “The Lancet”), “there’s a one-in-four chance that Sen. John McCain will die in the next four years”.
Two words: President Palin.

According to an NBC/WSJ poll (by way of AmericaBlog), Sarah Palin is now McCain’s biggest liability. Now, while this is clearly a statement about her complete lack of qualifications (and brains), it would matter less IF IT WASN’T FOR McCAIN’S ADVANCED AGE.
In light of her most recent idiotic comment (“the Vice President controls the Senate”), and on the suggestion of Nigel and countless others, I ask everyone to sign this petition demanding that Sarah Palin take the Immigration and Naturalization Test to see if she possesses, at bare minimum, the same knowledge about the United States that we ask of our immigrants.
