Things younger than Republican Presidential candidate (oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?) John McCain

Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

And here’s an ad that’s not so great.

But I support Moveon.org and the work that they do so I’m helping to spread the word.

  1. Ah, I kind of prefer that ad to some of their other ones.

  2. Really? Interesting…. i think it starts out strong but then falls flat - and the whole egg/takeoff on the old anti-drug ad thing seems like somewhat of a non sequitor.

  4. You can come on the Straight-Talk Express airplane. You can come on the airplane and everything is great. But if you come on the bus with a hostile line of questioning, or if you have a long and well documented critique, then no one’s going to talk to you.

Some reporters were left behind to cover John McCain because the rest of the Washington press corps ascended to heaven in the Barack Obama Rapture? Is it true that Jesus Christ descended from Heaven, accompanied by the Washington press corps and the spirits of all the saints of God (both from the pre-incarnation period and after) who died prior to the Barack Obama Rapture?

  9. So it might not be a brilliant ad, but hey. It’s got fucking Rider Strong in it. Amazing right?

  10. I guess it’s a good concept, but I definitely think it fell flat. Did anyone else note not-very-successful comedian/actor Chris Wylde in that? I guess I can appreciate what MoveOn.org is trying to do at a basic level, but their ads are usually lame and annoying. I feel like they’re the kind of liberals that make other liberals embarrassed to use that label.

  11. I disagree. I thought it was a great ad for it’s target audience. It is a parody, it’s familiar, it’s funny and it’s inspiring. Young people will get it, talk about it, and remember it. It is young, hip and thoughtful; all the things McCain is not. It is a good contrast to McCain.

  12. I actually really liked this commercial. Especially the “It’s been eight years & I didn’t think it possible.”
