Things younger than Republican Presidential candidate (oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?) John McCain

Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

Bill O’Reilly.

Bill O’Reilly is younger than John McCain.

My criteria for choosing the people, products, landmarks, organizations, etc. that I feature on the site has to do mainly with whether or not I think it’s surprising that Old Man McCain is actually older than the example (which is why, by the way, I haven’t posted about “the iphone” or “The Simpsons” despite the fact that one reader has emailed me these ideas about 56 times).

Obviously there’s nothing terribly surprising about the fact that Bill O’Reilly - famed liar, accused sexual harasser, failed novelist, famed “Inside Edition” flipper-outer, and liar - is younger than McCain. But I’m posting it tonight because it meets another one of my criteria… it allows me to segue into a topic that I think is worthy of discussion.

Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and the rest of the wingnuts of the Conservative media are using heinous smears and scare tactics to inject racism, prejudice, and fear into our political dialogue. And we need to tell them stop.

  1. Please, please, PLEASE post the footage of McCain getting questioned about the fact that insurance covers Viagra but not birth control. His reaction is priceless, especially when he claims not to remember ever having thought about the issue of insurance coverage for contraceptives before (even though he voted against a bill that would have required insurance companies to cover them).

  6. When are you democrats going to start using complete names, and call obama obama hussein? it is about time

    Comment by Hope — July 11, 2008 @ 9:21 am

  7. 6,

Bobby Jindal’s real first name is “Piyush”. If, as many people are speculating, he is chosen as McCain’s running mate, will you still be so hung on formalities?

    I tend to doubt it.

  8. The man’s name is not “Obama Hussein”… the man’s name is Barack Hussein Obama. Really, “Hope”, if that’s all you’ve got, keep on hoping. There’s not much else to do for you in the coming 4 to 8 years.
FYI, “Hussein” means “good”. John Sydney McCain, on the other hand, means “has-been Bush clone” in every language.

  9. Thank you, Rob, for the most delicious laugh I’ve had today. We can only “hope” that the Faux-tards continue burying themselves with their own loony rhetoric and taking “hope”less voters like #6 with them.

  10. I agree - good one Rob!

And 6, first of all, his name isn’t important. If you’re afraid of someone because their name sounds unusual to you then you have way bigger problems. And besides, you don’t call him John Sydney McCain, do you?
Try not to get so hung up on your own fear of being a citizen of a country that everyone DOESN’T hate.

  11. Hey Hope- we don’t use it because it’s fear mongering and thinly veiled racism. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Rob- hilarious! Thanks for the giggles.

  15. Whoever started THIS website with these ridiculous assumptions is a total f*cknut. Excuse me, you’re right it would be better to have a muslim in the White House, but I can forget that muslims killed nearly 3000 innocent Americans on September 11, 2001. No matter what anyone says, Borama has muslim blood running thru his veins, end of story.

  17. I like your site and I think petitions are fine, but they cant match a cable network when it has semi-literate people like jw swallowing the Bush Party line.

We either win or lose this election but one thing is for sure, there wont be another stolen election like the one in 2000. The people will do something about it this time. There are too many of us who believe in America and the 2nd amendment to stand by and let that happen again.
