Don Imus is younger than John McCain.

My issue with Don Imus isn’t that, in an attempt to be a poor man’s Howard Stern, he made some racial comments - no, my issue with him has always been that he’s just not funny.
And that he looks like a ghost.
Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

His comments weren’t racial, they were racist. But, yeah, he’s also not funny. But you are!

you’re a complete moron. you’d rather a man who won’t wear an American flag pin and who won’t cover his heart during the national anthem over a proud American just because he’s old. there are many sharp men who are way older. And if you could be a rational human being, if you’re correct and at some point he will not be able to fulfill his duties, that’s what a Vice President is for. It is better to pick a man who is trustworthy and who will pick a trustworthy VP to run our country than a man with many extremely worrisome associations and nothing but eloquence to show for himself.

“you’d rather a man who won’t wear an American flag pin…”
He refuses to wear an American flag pin because he finds that actions speak louder than stupid flag pins. He’ll prove himself through his leadership and ability, not a pin on his lapel. It is telling how smart you are though, beginning your argument against Obama over a tiny piece of metal.
“and who won’t cover his heart during the national anthem”
That’s incorrect. It’s not that he WON’T cover his heart, it’s that he didn’t. He’s not actively refusing, it’s simply not something he was raised to do. Paraphrasing his response to this ridiculous attack, he was taught by his grandfather to cover his heart during the pledge and sing during the national anthem.
“over a proud American just because he’s old.”
Not just because he’s old. There are many reasons to oppose McCain, though his age is a valid question—far more valid than a piece of metal, especially.
“And if you could be a rational human being, if you’re correct and at some point he will not be able to fulfill his duties, that’s what a Vice President is for.”
So I should vote for him because if he dies, someone else who I didn’t vote for can replace him? Great idea, though I have a better one: run someone much more qualified and doesn’t have the “old age” problem for President.
“It is better to pick a man who is trustworthy and who will pick a trustworthy VP to run our country than a man with many extremely worrisome associations and nothing but eloquence to show for himself.”
Besides, of course, his years of service to everyday Americans.

And, in case you haven’t been paying attention, some of McCain’s associations are at least as worrisome as Obama’s. Or do you also think that Hitler was on a mission from God?

at least “you’re a moron” admits obama is eloquent. of course, mccain isn’t bad either. they both blow bush out of the water.

“you’d rather a man who won’t wear an American flag pin…”
You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair that they made the Jews wear.

Maybe it IS best to battle those who continually choose to look on the world with blinders with random movie quotes. bravo Saintlybastian!
And to “you’re a moron”, they mostly come out at night… mostly…

i agree that wearing a flag pin or not wearing a flag pin means jack sh*t when considering a president, but i would like to invoke godwin’s law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin’s_law#External_links). don’t bring in nazis and hitler, people. it’s really just lame and unnecessary.
Comment by you_lose — May 31, 2008 @ 2:29 am
I always thought Imus looked like a mummy. His skin is almost crocodile like.
Comment by Garland — June 3, 2008 @ 9:54 pm
I take issue with your comments. In fact, Howard Stern tried to be Don Imus , as Don Imus was the original shock jock.

“don’t bring in nazis and hitler, people. it’s really just lame and unnecessary.”
It was a joke. The Nazi quote was from the movie Office Space.

You’ve absolutely got the Imus / Stern equation reversed. Stern is the cheap potty mouthed version of Imus.
Comment by slavetoca — June 6, 2008 @ 5:02 pm
well, while imus did come first, he always seemed more about comedy than trying to be “shocking”. it seemed iike he only got into that after howard came on the scene and started to eclipse him.
