Things younger than Republican Presidential candidate (oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?) John McCain

Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

If enough people see this video, McCain is finished.

This nine and a half minute video, taken from jedreport.com, is truly staggering. It shows McCain’s long record of passionate support for both President Bush and the Iraq war - despite his recent claims of being its “greatest critic” - and it shows how deeply committed he is to maintaining the status quo regardless of the will of America or Iraq.

Please watch… and forward like crazy.

  10. Poor little guy. He’s fallen in love with Mr Bush, fallen victim to the power of the presidential office to shape public thinking with announcements. People like this will always believe that whatever the armed forces are being sent to do is noble.

It would be charming if what he’s supporting were not such a horror.

  12. What about the rest of the story? At the same time there was intense pressure on McCain to support the republican party. He did not support the war in the beginning just the concept. The entire nation wanted somthing done at the time these clips are from. Why chop it up to make it look worse than it should be. Reality does not need a filter. Truth just is.

    Comment by Mich D aka @MichDdot — August 24, 2008 @ 4:14 pm

  13. Mich, what do you mean he supported the concept not the war? Does it really make a difference to you if someone is against a war but is all for the concept of going to war? To me its all the same. He likes the concept of sending our young men and women to die in some foreign land.

  14. How can a man educated in the 1950’s possibly lead the most powerful nation on earth into the technology oriented 21st century? He still listens for dial tones, wears Frank Sinatra shoes, communicates by AM radio, can’t understand the net, and puts heroism ahead of tech know-how. If the enemy pushes a button on a modern age weapon, it simply doesn’t make sense to stand and take a beating - it makes more sense to cut and run, to fight another day, not chivalrous, but wiser! Even bugs bunny knows that! We are doomed to a 1950’s style leadership by a man from the vacuum tube era in the new and sophisticated, computer driven world. At age 72, he will spend more time going to the washroom to pee than governing, and as for his menopausal running mate, remember, we are only a very old heart beat from having a total nooby ready to push ‘The Button’ - gimme Biden over her anytime but especially at that time! McCain is a great and likable old man but Obama’s got schooling, and that counts big in the computer era!

  23. “He was right on the surge. Obama wasn’t. Sometimes experience is important.”

Er… Tort, if we hadn’t gone into the damn war in the first place, there wouldn’t have been any need for a surge. These bozos were declaring “mission accomplished” years before the “surge”… He was wrong and is plainly fibbing about his “support” of the war.

Palin is on par with the typical repugnicans as well - she’s tried to ban books as mayor of her town…

The US is at a crossroads here guys - every great civilization dies and here we are at a choice between changing our path for the better or continuing on and accelerating what will sincerely become the decline of western civilization. It would be okay if the US disintegrated without bothering anyone else, but in typical American fashion, we’ll end up taking the rest of the world along with us… not a pretty picture.

Wake up people - the revolution will NOT be televised.

  25. The surge is working because we are paying the Sunnis to fight for us rather than against us, is that winning??He’s a total liar and cannot be trusted watch his facial expressions when states what he (and everyone else) knows to be false. Do not believe the polls they are false meant to give us the impression that McCain is doing better than he really is. He will lose in Nov. because the amount of voters this fall will be off the charts. They wont be able to steal this election this time. Keep the faith.

    Comment by wait while i puke... — September 11, 2008 @ 5:37 am

  28. 27,

It won’t last. Everyone likes a show with good production values. Don’t turn against the American electorate. It’s like what himself says: “They know how to run a great campaign. Too bad, they don’t know how to run the country.” Keep working to elect Obama.

By the way, when was the last time you donated to his campaign (they will happilly accept $5)? What are you doing between now and the election? Go out find your local Democratic headquarters (http://www.democrats.org/local.html). Register people to vote, knock on doors, organize your local get out the vote (GOTV) campaign. Even if you live in a red county. ESPECIALLY if you live in a red county.

Finally, hope and work to your hopes! I hear it can be audacious…

    Wish I was there,

  29. Instead of having a pissing contest on who is more evil let’s just say what this really is, Would there be this much comparison if he were not black? In my opinion this is the most hate fueled presidency election to date. Just because there isn’t rioting in the streets doesn’t mean that racism is gone away. It is more closeted and this election is proving how it is still very much a problem as it has always been. In November I’m voting Democrat not because of the race of the man but we have had eight years of the Republican president. Regardless of who would win times are getting harder and it is going to take more than four years to even get any stability back in the country. Let’s see what Obama can do.

  31. And please recall it was McBush’s right hand man, Phil Gramm, who was instrumental in engineering the current economic collapse by removing the safeguards put in place during the Great Depression. Just google GLBA and read about it… if any of you republitards can read. I think it was Clinton who said we think about things, but the neo cons just know what’s right. Maybe they were born that way? I can’t convince any of my brain dead right wing friends of anything, they just spew Faux Noos and Limbore to me!

  33. All of this delinquent banter is really pointless. The fact is that YOU don’t decide who becomes President anymore than the people in Florida decided who became President in 2004. These elections go to whoever has bought the corrupt electoral college. An outdated relic of a system from when the majority of Americans were uneducated and rural. Wake up you sheep, America doesn’t belong to you anymore, you’re simply the unquestioning fodder for the current fascist regime. Look up the 10 qualifying characteristics for fascism and see how many apply to America right now. The only way America will ever be free is for Americans to stand up as one and demand a total reform of their government including representation by everyday people, not these swift tongued politicos who are trained from birth to lie to your face and stick it in your butt at the same time. Even Thomas Jefferson said that true democracy cannot last without periodical reform.

    Comment by john — November 3, 2008 @ 7:41 am

  34. I’d like to start with some election reform. National ballot for national offices, instant runoff voting, and declaring Election Day a National holiday, anyone?
