Am I being "age-ist"? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I'm thinking that it's not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

Is is okay if I want to have a beer with our President Elect anyways?

Thanks for this page! I hope you decide to keep up political blogging in some way. I somehow feel that our senses of humor are quite similar...

Joe thanks for this wonderful blog - it kept my spirits up and I have been checking in religiously since I came upon it. Has been a great connection for me to have as I am living abroad in Ireland (and fortunately have been during Bush's reign of terror). So happy with our result yesterday - I am hopeful now - change is coming to America and it is coming from places that have been marginalised, oppressed and silenced. Finally people my age are starting to give a f@ck and stand up to be counted. We still have huge amount of work to do and I am not going to kid myself and say simply because we have elected black man that inequality no longer exists in our society, but I will say that this is the start of something much bigger and I look foward to being a part of that.

Can't wait to read your next endeavour. Cheers.

AND... mate ... If you get a chance, check out my recently released US film - BeingDadUSA - all about pregnancy, but for the dad - would love your thoughts and advice how to develop it the way you have done here. Its based on our very successful film in Australia, and we are about to launch in the UK.

We have gotten a lot of publicity, everything from KTLA to Rachel Ray... would love to chat when things calm down for you.

Well, if we're going to quote things, I'll sign off with this poem by a Welsh poet who prefers to go unnamed. Though it is more than a decade old, it is still younger than...well, you know.

And if this doesn't move you in this glorious season, you might as well hang it up and turn out the lights.

Sometimes

Sometimes things don’t go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don’t fail.
Sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war,
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can’t leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best intentions do not go
amiss; sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen; may it happen for you.

Great job on the blog Joe! We celebrated with the baby in the wee hours last night knowing that precious hope has returned, and we won't have to leave New Haven for South Africa! May those who thought they had no stake, no voice, no choice, rejoice!

I'm nine months pregnant with my first child right now and am so excited that my baby will be born after this historical election.

Thank you so much for this blog. It helped me keep my sanity during this crazy election!

thanks for making me smile while I sweated out this election. It was still too neck and neck for my taste, but such a relief that the right guy won and for, I strongly believe, all the right reasons.

26,

"May it usher in a new era of civility among the strident partisans on both sides of the aisle."

a nice sentiment - but i seem to recall an acceptance speech in 2004 where someone (who won by a smaller margin than obama's) said "i earned political capital and i'm gonna use it."... which is not exactly in the spirit of healing and bipartisanship.

i think we've earned a little bit of a payback period.

26, 29:

actually, i thought they were both very predictable.

"i just called my opponent to wish him..."
(cue audience): "boo! boo!"
(cut back to mccain - cue hands in air): "now, now, he ran a good..."

both were to be expected.
