On a scale of degree of lies, Obama is a professional socialpath lier. Politics aside, Obama lied about getting public campaign financing–this is just the beginning. No one knows where he gets at least 1/3 of his money from, probably from people who deal with drugs. Also, he used his childhood history as a big promoting factor, whereas he didn’t even visit his mother until after she died of cancer. He has never visited his aunt on his father’s side. Now he made a show to have visited his grandmother for less than a day.
If you watched Charlie Rose and the commentator David (I can’t recall the last name), the entire time Obama was in the Senate, he was never there for any meeting or decision making. He was never around. He does not have a good reputation in the Senate.

On the “voting for the ticket” issue: I like the old idea of just voting for one candidate, and the runner-up becoming VP, so that the President and VP typically come from different parties. Then you have bipartisanship all the way to the top, and you can make emergency legislation require the President and VP’s signatures so there’s still some representation from both sides. As I understand it, that was abolished after there was a dead tie in the electoral college (but I probably like the idea of replacing the EC with a straight popular vote too. Ah well, it’s not my election.)

“The way the system’s evolved” isn’t necessarily good. It’s the reason my country still has Royals, and humans’ optic nerves are wired backwards.

Nothing “morbid” about this…it’s a real risk. That’s why we vote for the TICKET, not just for one person.

(As a side point on our great democracy, I always wondered why we have long, hard fought primaries with huge numbers of voters and then one person gets to chose who their VP nominee will be?)
