I read this morning that John McCain thinks “spending is out of control” and that he could balance the budget by 2013 by keeping taxes low (read: extending Bush’s tax cuts) and curbing spending. He goes on to say that he will make a bipartisan effort to reform Social Security (read: privatization) and that he “(knows) how to work across the aisle. I’ve done it with Democrats, and I’ve done it for many, many, many, many, many years.” (OK - I added the last couple of “many’s” for effect. Couldn’t help myself.)
It got me thinking about what the costs of some everyday items where when McCain was a wee lad:
Coffee: 85¢ for a two-pound bag
Ivory Soap: 8¢
Aspirin: 39¢ for 100 tablets
Gas: 11¢ a gallon
An average house: around $4,000.00
And then it got me thinking - good God, this guy is old.

McCain is older than the margin of error for Carbon-14 dating — which is plus or minus 70 years.

Ah Ageism. Much classier than racism, don’t you think? And every bit as valid.

Amazing. I guess John McCain was around when was around when there were actual parents raising kids instead of kids tring to do it themselves. And I can see by most of the ridiculous inane responses on this web site that the kids didn’t do a very good job of it. Oh I’m sorry I have been using to big a words for you to understand. Like the and that and of. I feel a lot safer having someone in office who actually remembers the energy disaster created by Carter in the seventies, because it seems Obama isn’t old enough to remember disasters like that and he plans to follow the same course and cause the same disaster as then.
