The 40 hour work week is younger than John McCain.

The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (which also included the establishment of a minimum wage and child labor laws) dictated that a “standard” work week consisted of 40 hours and that, beyond those hours, overtime must be paid for certain jobs.
There have been many amendments to the FSLA over the years - including the Department of Defense Authorization Act of 1986 (during the Reagan administration) that repealed the eight-hour daily overtime requirement on Federal contracts) and the changes made in 2004 (during the Bush administration) that classified millions of low-level workers as “executives”… this making them ineligible to receive overtime benefits.



and now they brought back the depression. its all good.

I’m one of those people that don’t qualify for overtime! Hey! I work for the government (county, but still…)
