Things younger than Republican Presidential candidate (oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?) John McCain

Am I being “age-ist”? Maybe. But maybe not. The world is a pretty complicated place right now and I’m thinking that it’s not such a great time to elect our oldest President ever. So sue me.

“Why do you put ‘oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?’ in the title of your blog?

It’s a question I’m often asked and, contrary to the emails I’ve received calling me a “liberal homo” (our friends on the Right are so classy, aren’t they?), it has nothing to do with questioning his patriotism. It’s because he and his team refuse to let an opportunity go by without reminding us that he was a POW.

They’re even trying to inject it in his “I don’t know how many homes I have” gaffe.

And that’s after playing that card when defending his health care plan and his musical tastes (even though his timing was off by a decade or so on that one).

So lame.

UPDATE: Seems I’m not the only one who finds this tiresome…..

  3. I dig your site and check it out for a break from cube life.. your call obviously, but I’d drop the “did I mention I was a war hero thing” - regardless of your intent it does belittle his service and in an indirect way belittle some other folks that were proud to serve.

  4. Hey man, i like this site alot. it never fails to make me giggle or smile, but please don’t judge everyone on the right wing just because of one person’s comment. I know it was just a joke, but still, a lot of republicans read this site too!

  5. “McCain criticized Sen. Hillary Clinton for proposing funds for a museum celebrating Woodstock. He didn’t know what there was to celebrate, he said, because he was “tied up” during the music festival.”

So, we shouldn’t celebrate Woodstock, ’cause he wasn’t there. Nice.

  7. Someone’s made a list of all the things his camp has tried to let slide through ith the “get out of gaffe free” POW card: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/21/16410/0565

And, btw, Monopoly is one of the few things older than John McCain [but just barely].

  8. This isn’t a newer article, but just came across it. From a POW that McCain served with. An article on why he will not be voting for him, and how being a former POW does not serve the being the President.

  9. Hogan’s Heroes is younger than John McCain. I only mention that because Hogan’s Heroes shows how sneaky and untrustworthy POWs really are. I mean, we’re talking about guys who could make Nazis look silly — you can’t trust people like that…

  10. I’m upset… Now you’ll need to find things that are younger than John McCain but older than Joe Biden - a much smaller window.

  12. Joe Biden does not require a convoy to go get coffee.
    He likes the train.
So, in the spirit of fun, please take the poll at my blog to bestow a hobo nickname on Joe Biden.

  14. To adapt the line used against Giuliani in the primaries, all of McCain’s statements consist of “Noun, verb, and P.O.W.”
